Justice is numbered 8, Strength is 11. The Hanged Man is called The Hanged One. Courts are: King, Queen, Knight, Princess, and are imagined as deified ancestral figures. (A wonderful deck for past life readings!) The cards measure 3.25" x 4.25". The deck is accompanied by a book, 240 pages.

Suits are: Rods,
Swords, Cups and Pentacles. Justice is 11, Cards measure (Amazon does not list an English version of this deck as of 3/24/04, and the Spanish deck that is linked at right is considered a 'Hard-to-Find' item. I purchased it as a kit with a book by Craig Junjulas. I thought this deck was still in publication, but it might not be. I'll keep researching where to find it!)
|
A modern classic, this deck was created by a graphic artist made famous in the 1970's by the posters he created for various music tours, etc. His iconic artwork uses bright colors and patterns to great effect, working them into the symbolism of the card. While this is a RWS clone, many cards feature close-ups of the pictured characters, making it a more personal and intimate deck. |
|
Arcus Arcanum Listed as "Out-of-Print" on Amazon, however Alida has it in Europe.
|
Suits are: Wands,
Swords, Cups and Disks. Justice is 8, Strength 11. The Hierophant is called the High Priest. Minors are illustrated more or less in a RWS style. Numbered minors do not show any suit label, although they do show the proper number of wands, swords, etc. for the card, and there is a number in a diamond at the bottom of the card as its only designation.
|
The artwork is
somewhat of a 'comic-book style', but it looks like a vintage comic book,
so there is a quaintness about the images. It was published by A.G.
Muller, and created by Hansrudi Wascher with Gunter Hager. The LWB does NOT give reversed meanings. There is a white border around the cards, which measure 2.75" x 4.25".

Art Nouveau Tarot Card Deck by Antonella Castelli
|
Card titles are in Italian, with English, French, German and Spanish titles in smaller print. Suits are Chalices (Cups), Wands, Swords, and Pentacles. The Courts are: King, Queen, Knight, Knave. Justice is 8, Strength is 11. |
The minors are illustrated, but they mainly show women draped in flowing fabrics, in various languid poses. Colors are soft, but stronger than pastels. The detailed artwork around the central figures in each card is lush and gorgeous. The cards measure

Oh, my. This is a strange one! If you are not offended by various implements sticking out of various orifices of a living being's body, this might be a fun deck for you to try. There is definite humor in this deck, but there is also a solemnity to the features of some of the 'characters' that allows a person to look beyond the strangeness to find meaning. |

The Cosmic Tribe Tarot
|
(aka
- The 'Nekkid' Tarot, as we often call it on the
Aeclectic Tarot Forum!) A Thoth-based deck, this deck uses manipulated photography of nudes and graphic design to create an effectively modern look at Tarot. For example, the Tower card is a tower of...televisions! The nudity may bother some, but once you get used to it, it would almost seem wrong to put clothes on these beautiful tarot images!

Card titles are in Italian, English, French, German and Spanish. Suits are Chalices, Wands, Swords, and Pentacles. The Courts are: King, Queen, Knight, Knave. Justice is 8, Strength is 11. |
Each Major arcana
features a 'motto' in latin. The four suits have elements and key animals
assigned to them, which are prominently featured in the cards. This deck contains some fascinating drawings by Giacinto Gaudenzi after the work of Albrecht Durer (The Death card is rather breath-taking!); but it sometimes falls into the 'comic book' trap that captures many of Lo Scarabeo's other decks. |

Oh, what a treasure! Amazing artwork by Mara Aghem is accompanied by an enlightening book by Riccardo Minetti. The book is useful not so much for its tarot information as for its insight into the creative process that went into creating the deck. |

Card titles are in Italian, with English, French, German and Spanish titles in smaller print. This deck is based on the kabbalistic Tree of Life. Suits are Cups, Wands, Swords, and Disks. The Courts are: King, Queen, Prince, Princess. |
Justice is 11, Strength is 8. Hierophant is renamed Priest, the High Priestess is simply Priestess. The minors are like pips, but they only have a large numeral on each card that is somewhat illustrated around it (No people.) There are keywords on each card. The cards measure

By
Mary Hanson-Roberts. Suits are: Rods, Swords, Cups, Pentacles. Justice is 11, Strength 8. Courts are: King, Queen, Knight, and Page. Cards names appear at the bottom of each card in 5 languages. |
This deck is a
close re-drawing of the RWS images, but it is much brighter and almost
childlike in appeal. It reminds me of children's book illustrations, which
is what drew me to the deck in the first place. Would be a good deck for beginners who find the RWS a little dark, and for those with small hands, as the cards measure only 2.375" x 4".

Lovely artwork
that utilizes old maps and manuscripts and marbled paper patterns as
backgrounds to the artist's own work. Inspired by medieval symbolism and
artistry.

Suits are Magic
Wands, Swords of Truth, Winged Hearts, and Earth
Crystals. The Court Cards are renamed Child, Seeker, Guide, and Guardian. Minors are illustrated. Strength is 8, Justice is 11. |
The Major Arcana
are each named for a different fairy tale or fable. The cards are quite
large, but the artwork is so detailed an colorful that this size is
welcome. Some people think of decks that use fairy tales as being too sunny to be effective for reading, but this deck allows the reader to illuminate the darker aspects of a reading without scaring the pants off the querent! |

Tarot of the Journey to the Orient
|
Card titles are in Italian, English, French, German and Spanish. Suits are Chalices, Wands, Swords, and Pentacles. The Courts are: King, Queen, Knight, Knave. Justice is 8, Strength is 11. |
Both Western and
Eastern images of the arcana grace this deck. It celebrates the spirit of
discovery in Marco Polo's journey to the Orient. A lovely deck for comparing "Western culture with Eastern Philosophy," as the deck's box says. |
|
Jungian Tarot (reprint version)
|
Suits are:
Cups, Wands, Swords and Pentacles. The cards are not numbered and do not have any names on them. The Courts are: King, Queen, Prince, and Princess. |
The
correspondences of the Minor pip cards to the 10 Sephirah in the four
worlds of the Qabalah gives this deck a magickal spin as well as a Jungian
theme. The book(s) are a necessity, especially without the numbers or names on the cards. There are a couple of books designed to accompany this deck: Tarot Psychology and The Jungian Tarot and Its Archetypal Imagery. |
