MoonThat mysterious orb that hangs in the night sky, sometimes
full and round, sometimes a sliver of itself. It inspires but it also frightens.
How does the moon affect you?
Ever seen the moon come up over the horizon...and it looks
HUGE?
The
National
Science Foundation wants to know why that is. We can tell a few stories to pass the time as we walk this
lonely road.
The Sacred Texts Archive has an intriguing Hindu story about
"The Boy with a Moon on
his Forehead and a Star on his Chin."
A mysterious, perhaps dangerous journey through the dark. Can I trust myself...trust what I have learned so far on this journey? Is that friend or foe along the road? Will I be allowed to share this frightful trip with a companion, or be challenged by an enemy of the mind? The night is quiet but for the distant howl of a wolf and the whisper of waves on the shore behind me. The face of the full moon looks down -- what does she see?
Looking for something a little darker, are we? Hmmm...this
etching by Michael
Bond looks rather Moon-ish,
yet I see no actual moon in the artwork. Curiouser and curiouser...
